Summer Select

I tried to go onto the website & blog, but I am a computer spaz, and it isn't working! But for the record, here is how I feel about summer select & a far away tournament:

SUMMER SELECT: We were not impressed with the SUPER Y experience last year with Mike's team. Many of the kids were not "Ranger" material, and actually did not have the kind of ball handling skills we are accustomed to seeing on our usual Ranger teams. In addition, we do spend alot of time at the shore, so we easily miss half the games. I have not even discussed this subject yet with Ralph or Matt, and I guess I will do that very soon! But I am inclined to say we will opt out of this for the summer.

I understand about the shore, etc. I know the "kids" on the past summer select were less than "Ranger standard" and that's why jason opted out this past summer. I believe that's why the Rangers are looking at making it mandatory.

I think with most of the team playing summer select it will definitely change things (at least I hope so).

Jim is getting us more information about summer select.

Fernando is likely to opt-out as family usually go to Brazil during most of the summer vacation. We would need to know more exact dates as to try to accomodate travel arrangements x summer select.

I have a few questions regarding the SUmmer Select.

First, when does it begin and when does it end. I need to know dates b/c of scheduling summer vacations etc and I want to know if we will be around or on vacation etc. ALso which night of the week will they be practicing and for how long? Last but not least, will coach Jimmy be their coach for training or someone else?PLease let me know as soon as possible so I can respond to their deadline. Thanks.

Oh one more thing Shawn,

If you can't get those answers before the deadline NOvember 30th, then perhaps they need to extend the deadline until we have more information on the summer select with dates. Its just hard to make a decision when we don't have much to go on. Let me know too if they extend their deadline.

Unless I here some more info that it will be different than from what i have seen in the past.
School ends june 24 and soccer starts back up 2nd week of August. Family needs those 6-7 weeks of a break. Can't do the tournaments or maybe 1 local tournament or scrimage. Alan might interested in some weekday practices depending how many and when.

He would be interested some local small sided pickup games if anyone is interested. We tend to focus on pickup games during the summer.

Matt opted out when we registered at the beginning of the season. However, is summer select was practices during the week and one maybe two tournaments we would consider "opting in". Matt wouldn't mind practicing during the week, but the weekend tournaments take up what little precious family time we have in the summer.
